More Incubator Free Post At Bottom Of The Page
Please Serious answers about posting ducklings?
I know there are some stores that post ducklings, its not illegal and it is stress free ( as long as they post within the first 24 hours of thier life because of the yolk sack will keep them happy for 24 hours and full) i was going to buy a incubator and hatch my own duckings but i think i will find it far to hard and i dont think i could cope with wasting money on a incubator to use it once. does anyone know some good websites where i can buy about 2 or 3 INDIAN RUNNER DUCKINGS and be deiliverd by post to england/UK ( ENGLAND OR THE UK ONLY ) thanks so much and no silly answers
thanks
If you buy very young ducklings you have no way of knowing whether they are male or female? If this matters its best to wait until they are about 6 weeks old, by they they are pretty much fully grown and the ducks (females) quack loudly if picked up, the drakes just hiss a lot and never quack as such. If you ended up with 3 drakes you would get no eggs (they are very tasty) and 3 sexually frustrated drakes. Equally 2 drakes and one duck would be a disaster as they would mate with her constantly and could kill her. Its best to have a ratio of 1 drake to 2-3 ducks at least.
If it doesn't matter to you what sex ducklings are then I believe there are companies that will put them on the train for you to collect at a given station not "post" them as such.
Ducklings require heat for the first couple of weeks then once they are feathered up they can go outside. Now is not the ideal time of year to be honest, April onwards would be better for rearing ducklings as they can they go outside in run as long as they have a secure coop to sleep in at night.
